Entry Level Bank Jobs As Window Tellers

teller Entry Level Bank Jobs As Window TellersI don’t know anyone who doesn’t care about money.  Of course some people value it more than others, some waste it and others never seem to have enough, but most everyone likes money.  As a matter of fact, the thought of spending a lot of time around money is a good one, really.  If you are looking for a job in banking this is just what you’ll do.

If you have gone to school and studied accounting or finance or have some other degree applicable to banking, once you finish your program you are on the lookout for good entry level bank jobs.  These are usually in the area of working with customers, especially as a window bank teller.

Helping customers resolve problems and make transactions in their bank accounts is a good way to start your career.  You will have the opportunity to put into practice some of what you have learned at school and will learn more about dealing with money.  And actually handling and dealing with money every day sounds like a dream job to me!

From a position as a teller you will get some of the experience you will need if you want to work up to being in the loan department doing either loan underwriting or loan processing.

Entry level bank jobs should not be too difficult to find.  If you have the right education, you will find opportunities online that you can take advantage of.  If you have just graduated from your program you will find that there are many sites dedicated specifically to helping recent graduates to find entry level positions in all fields including banking and finance.

Visiting job websites can be a little overwhelming.  Be relaxed and don’t stress about finding a job within a strict time limit.  Simply put your shoulder to the wheel and search diligently for positions available in your area.  Keep in mind that just because you couldn’t find any positions open last week doesn’t mean there won’t be any this week!  Banks, like any other institution go through regular hiring periods.

The most important thing for any graduate is to be consistent in your search.  Don’t just expect a job to fall into your lap, but search online, ask around and find creative ways to learn what your options are.  Also, don’t be afraid to be persistent once you have the attention of a bank.  Don’t become a nuisance, but make sure they know you are really interested and get the sense that you are the one for them.

The chance to be around money day in and day out is something we all wish we had.  Of course you won’t be spending that money, but you will be earning money to support yourself and will have more experience with dealing with it than most other people.  And your entry level bank job will put you on the path to a position that will make you more money, as you work with other people’s money.

What To Expect With Entry Level Jobs

image27 thumb What To Expect With Entry Level JobsEntry level jobs are the realistic target you need to set when you start out on your paid career. Unless you have previous experience, you will find it virtually impossible to get straight into one of the jobs you would ideally want. This applies even though you may have spent years studying at a college or university, and have the paperwork to prove it. Employers who are paying out big money need to be sure that they are getting someone who is going to deliver straight away. There is no time to train someone from scratch when the big wages are being paid out.

Employers also know that they can gauge a person's reliability and dedication to the job by only taking people with some experience. If you are someone with the basic ability to do the job, but you are prone to lateness or to taking unscheduled days off the employer will want to know in advance. Of course, from your point of view this is an opportunity to take advantage. If you can get in to an entry level job and demonstrate the kind of dedication and effort which is all to rare these days, it will give you a huge advantage over the competition when the time comes to progress.

The major difference between basic level entry jobs and ones which demand a greater level of experience is that entry level jobs will be ones where the employee is working as part of a team in a supervised situation. Jobs needing a greater level of responsibility will be given to those who have demonstrated a degree of capability at a more basic level first. By proving yourself as part of a team, you can pave the way for career advancement in a situation where you will be able to make more choices.

Exactly what form an entry level job will take will obviously depend very much on the exact career you have chosen. In some of the high tech careers where there is a great demand for a high degree of qualification and specialist training, there will not be a great deal of difference between the job you do working as part of a team and the job you will do when you have more responsibility. High tech jobs need a good degree of competence before you are employable at any level.

If the job is low tech, there will be a greater chance that it will be more menial and basic. Often, these low tech low level entry jobs are offered to graduates with the intention of assessing the individual and trying to gauge their suitability for roles higher up in the organization. Employers know that dedicated and highly trained people are difficult to find and hard to replace. It is important to give of your best even in these entry level jobs.
