If so, you have probably already considered a job in accounting. Getting the right education is the first step toward a career that you will find both satisfying and rewarding.

There are a plethora of different programs that will allow you to work in the field of accounting, but the better your degree, the greater the opportunities that will be open to you. You will most likely need at least a Bachelor degree, but the higher the better. Keep this in mind as you plan your studies. You need to be prepared to fulfill the duties of an accountant which are usually based around providing clients with information by preparing, analyzing and verifying financial documents and the more you know, the better you can do that.

Once you have the degree you have worked for, you are ready to start searching for accounting entry level jobs in whichever field you have chosen to go into, Public, Managerial, Governmental or Internal Auditing. You cannot simply throw yourself out there; you need to have some type of experience first.

Gaining experience should not be a big problem as most programs provide you with opportunities in the form of internships. This gives you a chance to use your knowledge in a practical setting and show your level of aptitude for the work. Your resume will reflect this to your prospective employers.

Your accounting program or internship might also provide you with opportunities in the form of accounting entry level jobs. There may be a listing, or the program may allow for you to stay on with the company you are interning with after your internship is finished.

You can also find resources online for those who are just graduating from college to find entry level jobs. A number of sites are dedicated strictly to this purpose and match prospective employees with potential employers. A thorough search into these sites might prove very fruitful to you.

Keep in mind when searching for your job that no employer wants someone to come in and look at numbers all day only. They want to hire someone they will enjoy working with. Of course in your application and interview you need to showcase your skills, but you need to also have a pleasant personality and be as attractive as you can in other areas than just your accounting skills. Remember, there are many other graduates in accounting looking for a job, too. You need to be the one who stands out.

Getting your entry level accounting job is just the first step you make toward a career in accounting. How well you do in your early positions will very directly affect how quickly you move up the ladder and where you will end up, so work hard and make good choices.

Using an Auckland Employment Agency

Using an Auckland Employment Agency

If you're looking for a job in New Zealand's largest city, using the services of an Auckland employment agency can help you find a good job that's well-suited to your skills.

Also called personnel agencies, these are companies who have a double-allegiance; both to you as a job-seeker and to a large array of prospective employers who pay them to screen applicants and send the best candidates for personal interviews.

Auckland employment agencies will do everything possible to help you find a great job, including assisting you with writing your resume and giving you necessary information about making a positive impression with a potential employer at your interview.

Remember, no employment agency guarantees that you will be hired; their only task is to arrange suitable interviews for you that match your skills and the needs of the prospective employers who are their clients.

Auckland employment agencies, since they are private businesses for profit, charge their employer clients a fee for using their services.

To maintain their professional reputation and profit from your interaction with them, they will aggressively advocate for you with a prospective employer.

To do this successfully, the agency will have a thorough understanding of an employer's needs, the skills and experience of job seekers required, salary and other benefits provided by the employer, and opportunities for career advancement.

The agency will discuss all this information with you; this way, you need not go to a job interview "cold," without knowing everything that the job entails.

When you contact an Auckland employment agency and arrange a meeting with an employment manager, you will need to bring several things with you:

documents of your identity (a drivers' license and/or passport will be fine),

a transcript from a college,

university or technical/vocational school

previous job evaluation reports

any awards or certificates that you achieved at your previous job,

documentation of your military service, if any, including your manner of discharge, and any other documents that reflect well upon your character and ability to do the job for which you are searching.

A commonly asked question is whether you can use both an Auckland employment agency as well as a similar agency in another location.

The answer is that yes, you certainly can. For example, using an Auckland agency will help you discover jobs available to you in that area. If you are not adverse to re-locating or are currently not residing in Auckland, it is in your best interests to contact another agency as well.

CONNEX Recruitment Ltd is an Auckland Employment Agency specializing in full service, white collar recruitment. We make the process and experience of Recruiting Staff simple and painless for everyone involved.

Truck Driver Job Training

Image via Wikipedia

There are some jobs that don’t require you to have any sort of specific education or training.  This type of job is usually considered to be temporary and acts as either an in-between job or is most fit for young adults making their way through school.  Other jobs require extensive schooling and a big investment in education.  Still others require a certain skill that can be learned in a relatively short time.

Truck driving is a job that falls under the last category.  You don’t have to attend a four year university, but you also can’t get into it straight out of high school.  Before you can become a truck driver you need to have some truck driver job training.  How much and what type depends on the type of driving you will be doing.

The most basic thing necessary to become a truck driver is to have the right driver’s license.  A CDL license is the trucking license and you cannot drive a big truck without one.  You have to have truck driver training for a set number of hours before you can even take the test to get your CDL.

There are quite a number of different truck driver job training courses.  You can’t just pick the shortest or easiest one and then apply for any trucking job.  Before you choose which course to take, you need to first have a very clear idea of exactly what type of truck driving you would like to do.

There are truck driving schools across the country that can provide you with all the training you need to be a truck driver.  Programs range from the most basic, which will get you an entry level position, right up to training for the most advanced driving you can do.  Courses include classroom instruction, lab and driving instruction, all of which are valuable.

Some programs in a truck driver job training school are geared toward the person wanting to just enter the field.  Others are for those who have been driving but want to advance.  Still others are simply refresher courses for drivers who have been on the road for years just to keep them up to date.

In some schools you don’t have to sign up directly for a course.  You can first go in and see how things are run, sit in on a class, talk to students, and get in a truck.  This can be very helpful for you to decide if you would feel good attending that school.  You can also ask any questions you may have about the curriculum.

Once you have completed your truck driver job training program you are ready to get driving!  Your school will very likely have some sort of placement program that you can use to help you get started on your new career.

Taking Care Of The People: Federal Job Training

Every country is run through the combined efforts of the citizens of that country. A government alone cannot create a successful country. There need to be people willing and able to work for a common good, even if that comes simply by working for their own daily bread. This is why it is in the best interest of the government to do what they can to keep people employed.

Of course, a country can't run itself, either. A good government is also essential, so the starting point is a well functioning group of competent people working in the government setting. Federal job training is important to ensure that those working for the nation are doing so efficient and effectively.

The government also has a department assigned to doing what it can to oversee job security and keep the unemployment level as low as possible. This labor department provides free information about finding and training for jobs.

Federal job training programs benefit people in all areas of society. From those working for the government in lower end jobs to every day citizens just trying to feed their families, learning how to do a job well is the key to finding and keeping good employment.

The best tool anyone looking for a job can take with them in their search is the knowledge, skills and experience that is required by their potential employers. Making yourself a valuable asset to any company greatly increases your chances of finding and keeping good employment. The government understands this, hence the helpful labor department.

It is also true that the sooner you prepare for work, the sooner you can find a good permanent job. The youth job corps is a government funded program that provides young people with training for jobs. This gives them the boost they need to move toward an independent life in a good career with a job that will provide for them long term and allow them to live a successful and satisfying life. These youth programs also help young people gain experience in working with others and other important life skills.

One thing federal job training offers is apprenticeships. This method of job training is highly effective because rather than studying theory, you get actual hands on training working in a real work environment. This way you have the benefit of the knowledge of those you are working with and you can more easily gain skills because you are putting your newly gained knowledge to use on a daily basis.

Federal job training programs are aimed at helping people both in government positions and out to have the confidence and skills to find and keep good employment. Happily employed people create a smooth functioning economy and a strong country, which is, after all, the goal of any good government.

With The Right Software Training Jobs Come Easily

Image by Old Shoe Woman via Flickr

We live in a computer age.  Most of what we do is in some way related to computers.  We use them for communicating, the stores we shop at use them, our cars and traffic signals use them; they are everywhere.  One of the places that many people use computers constantly is in the workplace.  This creates the need for employees to understand computers and be proficient in using computer software.

In most businesses, before they even consider hiring someone to work in their office, they make sure that they know how to use the appropriate software.  Hiring someone without this knowledge would require a great deal of on the job training which could be better spent in other ways.

Before looking for a good job in business, most people recognize the need to be proficient in a number of different computer programs.  Adobe, Apple and Microsoft each have many different types of programs that are used in office settings.  People with no experience or without experience in a fairly broad range of software are unable to compete with those who do.

So where can you find software training jobs?  To get the training you need, there are a number of places you can look.  Of course the Internet is one of the best sources for this type of information.  You can get a good idea of what is required to learn the programs and you can find sources for gaining that knowledge.

Learning how to use software is something that anyone can do.  It is simply a matter of sitting down and spending the necessary amount of time learning the ropes.  For some this may be easier than for others.  It depends on how much experience you have with similar software and how familiar you are with computers in general.  Still, anyone can learn to use most of the basic software.

There are some very good online software training sites that provide you with step by step tutorials in how to use certain programs.  This information usually comes from the software provider themselves and is free.  Use these trainings before applying for a job.  Although you may not gain actual practical experience, at least you will understand the basics and have a good basis to start from.

Of course you can also learn how to use software on the job.  Sometimes this is done for simple data entry or similar jobs.  However, in positions where more sophisticated systems must be used, you really need to have a good handle on how to use it before going into a new job, as you will still be required to learn how to apply the software to the specific demands of the company for which you work.

If you have software training jobs will be easier to find and you will have more options open to you.  Being well rounded in your computer knowledge is a great way to make yourself more marketable to employers.

My Personal Development Plan ? Career Guidance and Career Advice

My Personal Development Plan ? Career Guidance and Career Advice

Study Skills-

Learning how to study to an optimum is down to environment, a singular mindset to focus one's mind into a catacomb of learning and concentration, no distractions and a comfortable conducive setting, an achievable plan to complete a certain amount of work in one study session and to reward oneself when a milestone has been achieved, a form of motivation. I have re-learned how to learn again.

The Reflective Diary – Reflection, Learning and Self Evaluation

Using a reflective diary technique coupled with the use of a pen that flows naturally, a flowing pen enables me to concentration on the thoughts and not the pen.  I composed ‘written material that is based on reflection and is relatively free writing' (Moon, 2000) with the use of my ‘special' free writing pen and a free state of mind. Moon states that reflective writing could serve many purposes such as, to record experience, to develop learning in ways that enhances other learning, to deepen the quality of learning, etc.  In my circumstance I believe it serves to enhance my ‘problem-solving' and ‘creativity'.  How can this method of reflection be applied to career guidance and career advice?

I continually reflect and consider, I think about improvements to a project I'm working on.  It's pressed into my head, to improve as a person, when a reflective idea appears in my mind, regardless of how remote it may be, I write it into my personal jotter and then transfer it to an electronic document.  In some ways I am reflecting and enhancing my ‘problem-solving skills' (Moon, 2000).  I reflect, what impact might this change have, how might the end user view this,  and what can best generate revenue?  Continuous outcome reflecting in a professional environment.  Could my client improve using this form of career guidance and self reflective career advice?

Learning Styles and Time Management-

I have a very good ability to management my time, I am positioned in Covey's (1997) quadrant II and occasionally I dip into quadrant I, I am centered on myself, my goals and my principles, I have little distraction in my life.  These distractions I avoid like a bad headache, both consciously and unconsciously.  Perhaps some balance is required redressing, an area for personal development.

My learning style is of a ‘List Maker' and when prevails and the situation calls, I become a ‘Crisis Manager' in certain conditions.  In my life to date I have also HAD to be a successful plate spinner, handling numerous responsibility, duties and programmer.  But that's ‘life's challenges', makes me feel alive, justified, trying to make a difference.

Having completed the Learning Styles Questionnaire by Peter Honey Publications (2006), the results were not surprising to myself as my learning style is not overloaded toward any style but a composition of the four outcomes, a balance of all factors, Activist, Reflector, Theorist and Pragmatist.

As a career guidance counselor how can I develop other's learning styles?  First, they must be made aware of their style, by taking the learning style questionnaire and then a strategy of reflective awareness applied ongoing to that person, tackling their style in the context of a critical friend (Costa et al., 1993).  Trying to address an imbalance and making the person aware of their areas of development.  Or making others aware that team members learn in different ways.  The start of effective career guidance and career advice.

Applying Kolb's (1984) four stage cycle of learning cycle, allowed me to evaluate and question my ‘immediate' and ‘concrete experiences' provided me with observations and reflections, which I am doing while I compose this piece.  Experience, reflecting, thinking and acting.  The acting will apply to the action plan.

Analyzing these theories has taught me about myself in a scientific manner, I have learned about myself and how I can use these theories with career guidance clients and applying career advice.

This is Diarmuid Haughian , writing articles, blog and exploring on new interesting topics such as  job, education, career etc. You can find more details about career guidance and career advice.

Take Your First Career Steps With Management Entry Level Jobs

150x100 Take Your First Career Steps With Management Entry Level Jobs

Image by Getty Images via @daylife

Management entry level jobs are the route you will need to take when you have graduated from college, and are looking for your first step on the career ladder. Management jobs can vary greatly depending on who or what is being managed, and that difference is never more acute than between IT management jobs and jobs which involve working with no technology, but often with customers and the public. You will need a different type of approach for high tech jobs, as entry qualifications will be so much more important.

With technology which is quickly changing, it is absolutely vital to get some kind of a step on the career ladder as quickly as possible. If you do not, there is every chance that the skills you have learned will be out of date at least to a degree, and the employers will wonder why they should take a chance on you when they could employ a newer graduate with the current skills. If you are in a high tech job, it is easier to train to keep up with new developments, and make sure that you are easily employable in a new job should your current one fail.

Jobs which involve more traditional forms of working are not so difficult to keep up with, and employers are far more likely to be tolerant if you aren't fully up to date with recent developments. Experience of actual work situations and the ability to deal with people are the most important issues, so getting into the workplace and building up some kind of work record will be very beneficial. Make sure that whatever you do is included on your resume, as this is the tool by which employers will judge you.

It is surprising how many graduates looking for management entry level jobs get lazy with their resumes. They create them once, to reflect the course they have taken and the qualification they have gained, but then they do no more. They simply send off the same resume to every employer they contact. This is silly when you think how easy it is to update paperwork using modern technology. Anyone who does take the trouble to keep adding their latest achievements to their resume will have an automatic advantage.

This is especially so in the case of management entry level jobs, as employers will be looking for people who have the skills of being organized and keeping information up to date. There is always a high demand for these jobs, and the recruiters are invariably busy people. They will often only be able to scan the majority of resumes they receive, and then carry out a more detailed study of anything which appears to offer greater potential. Keep adding on any developments to your career or out of work achievements to enhance your chances of landing one of the best management entry level jobs.
