Question by Lovely As The Sun: What is your advice about career schools in Arizona?
I'm thinking of starting one of those 10 month career colleges soon to hold me up while I persue my chosen career. What are the pros and cons, what advice can someone give me, I've heard they're aren't accredible, what can I make of these college programs? This is more research for me by the way. Please only reply if you have a real answer thank you!

If you are 16 to 24 years old, look into JobCorps (website: www.jobcorps.org).

It is a free government program run by the US Dept of Labor. There's two in AZ, but they will send you to any of their locations that has the job training you want to study. They will even give you housing, food, healthcare, transportation, cash, job placement, etc.

You do not even need to be a high school graduate - they'll help you there too. And based on the fact that it's a government program, I'm sure their courses are accredited. Again, it's all free. But you have to get in before your 25th birthday.

Hello, I am getting my BA in Spanish Literature this year, and I am planning doing my Master in Teaching (Spanish) next year. Since I will not have a license I have to complete the Masters before I can start teaching. I've gotten different advice, is it good to complete a masters without previous working experience? Is it going to be harder for a school to hire me since I will have a masters? Any advice?

sometimes yes it is harder since the amount of teaching experience is small. The school will have to pay you for your masters but you will have no experience. See what classes would be required to get a BS in education w/ emphasis in spanish for 6-12th grade.

Question by Sarah J: Does anyone have good career advice?
I am really confused about what I want to do with the rest of my life. I like to help people and I am really good at giving people advice. So after I started thinking about it I thought I wanted to be an addiction counselor. Would this be a good career choice? If not this then are there any other careers where I could help people. I really want to have a career that I love

Also I am good at math and science so on the other side I could go into a career in the health field or computors that would probably make more money.

If you're good at math and science AND you like to help people, you should look into a career in psychology, counseling or social work. All of those mean you have the opportunity to work with people who need your help.

Esp. with psychology, it's beneficial to be good at math/science, so that'll be helpful when you're in college. How old are you? If you're in high school or just starting college, my best advice would be to keep an open mind about careers, as it's very common to change your mind.

I'm not saying you'll want to do something else other than help people, but you don't necessarily have to pinpoint a specific career/job title right now. Once you're in school and start taking classes, you'll get an even better idea of what you like/dislike, so that'll help you narrow things down.

If you're in high school, go talk to a guidance counselor--they can help you think about career choices (and, hey, since you're thinking about counseling, you might even be able to quiz them about their career choices/educational backgrounds).

Same advice goes if you're in college or thinking about college. Talk to a professor, advisor or even someone in the career center if your school has one.

Oh, and one last thing, social work and psychology are both great professions where you can make a genuine difference in someone's life--just keep in mind that psychologists tend to get paid more than social workers. Money may or may not be an issue for you, but it might be something to think about as you make plans.

Question by : I'm a psych major and I want to work with babies/young children but not troubled ones; any career advice?
I love psychology but I would prefer to not work troubled babies or children. I am very open to any career suggestions because I am willing to go to post undergrad school and not necessarily dealing with psychology.

I do not want to work in day care.

I've looked into speech therapy a little bit but am not entirely interested and neonatal nursing requires too much schooling for me. Any other suggestions?

Sounds like you should study Sociology instead. You can be a school counselor, or a social worker in a hospital perhaps.

Question by jrem003: New graduate looking for career advice relating to marketing, sports and travel.?
I just recently graduated college with a BBA degree in marketing. Now I am out on the market looking for a good job. I really want to work in either a.) the sports industry, football, baseball, basketball, anything or b.) a career that involves a lot of travel, hopefully something around event marketing. However, both of these markets are very hard to enter into or you need a lot of previous experience. Is there anyone out there that has any connections or advice / tips on how they got started in sports marketing industry or an events marketing job with lots of travel? Question by he11scre4m: What is the best way to enter a Teaching career? Looking for career advice.?
I have an msc in computer science and a ba hons in business & economics. I have been thinking recently about teaching and was just wondering what the best path would be if i wanted to begin the career in teaching as soon as possible. Would the masters degree still require a PGCE? It is my understanding that there is a shortage of computer science teachers. Would that benefit me in any way? could i for instance get on the job experience?
